Frequently asked Questions - Psychotherapy / Counselling
How talking can help?
It can be of considerable benefit to talk to a therapist whether you are experiencing a problem for the first time or whether you have a history of difficulties for which you have sought professional assistance in the past. Counselling/Psychotherapy gives you the opportunity to develop new and more helpful skills.
How will I know if Counselling/Psychotherapy is right for me?
It is important to feel comfortable and safe with your therapist and an initial consultation will help you to establish this. As such, I offer a 'no obligation', 30 minute FREE consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on what your needs are. Your therapist at aspired therapies recognises the uniqueness of each and everyone. We take time to listen and understand you as a individual and your individual needs and respond to each person in a matchless and different way. Your therapist will work together with you to establish how long is right for you and will review your therapy on a regular basis. We offer both short or long term therapy.
Should I go private rather than access free counselling?
NHS counselling is usually offered on a strictly time-limited basis with often only 6 sessions being available. With high waiting lists, you may have to wait a long time to see a therapist. aspired therapies can usually offer an appointment within 2 weeks.
How do I access the service?
We accept referrals from yourself, GP referrals, corporate or business organisations or from other professional bodies.
What will it cost?
We offer a FREE initial consultation lasting approximately 30 minutes. Thereafter, we charge £40 for a 50 minute session. We also offer a concessionary rate for those on a genuinely low income, please enquire but note that only limited spaces are available.
What if I have to cancel an appointment?
A 24 hour notice for cancellation is required otherwise we will charge the FULL fee for any missed sessions.
